Move-In Utility Checklist

Use this in order — start at least 2 weeks before your closing date.

1
Confirm your service territory

Use your exact address to verify which electric provider covers your home — especially in Maricopa and Pinal counties where SRP and APS overlap.

2
Set up electric service

Call or go online to schedule service start for your closing date. Most providers allow scheduling 2–4 weeks in advance.

3
Set up natural gas (if applicable)

Southwest Gas or UniSource depending on your area. Not all Arizona homes have gas — confirm before calling.

4
Transfer water & sewer service

Contact your city water department. Many require a connection fee and a deposit for new accounts. Schedule for closing day.

5
Arrange trash pickup

In most cities, trash is included when you set up water service. In unincorporated areas, call Republic Services or WM directly.

6
Schedule internet installation

Internet installers book out 1–2 weeks. Schedule as early as possible. Many providers offer self-install kits for faster setup.

7
Update your address everywhere

USPS mail forwarding, bank accounts, employer, insurance, DMV, voter registration, and any subscriptions.

8
Consider solar

Arizona averages 300+ days of sunshine. SRP, APS, TEP, and TEP all have solar programs. Ask your agent about solar lease assumptions at closing.
